Ever wondered what it’s like to work aboard a luxury superyacht? While the image of opulence and adventure is certainly true, life on board is also filled with discipline, teamwork, and precision. At Prestige Yacht Academy, we prepare our students for the reality of life at sea—and here’s a glimpse into what a typical day looks like for a crew member.
06:00 – Early Start
The day often begins before sunrise. Crew members rise early to prepare the vessel for the day ahead, ensuring all public areas are spotless and guest-ready. Deckhands begin polishing stainless steel, checking safety equipment, and setting up water toys. Stewardesses might be preparing the dining area or organizing laundry.
08:00 – Guest Service and Breakfast
Once guests are awake, service kicks into full swing. Whether it’s laying out a continental breakfast on the aft deck or serving espresso in the main salon, crew members work to anticipate every need. Attention to detail and a positive attitude are key.
10:00 – Activities and Duties
Guests may spend the day snorkeling, sunbathing, or heading ashore—and the crew supports every step. Deckhands handle tenders and jet skis, engineers check systems, and interior crew ensure that guest areas remain pristine.
13:00 – Lunch and Midday Break
After a beautifully presented lunch, there may be a short window of rest or continued maintenance work. Some yachts even rotate shifts to allow for brief off-duty time.
15:00 – Afternoon Adventures
More activities may follow, such as scuba diving or sightseeing excursions. Crew members are always on hand, adapting to changes in schedule and guest preferences.
19:00 – Dinner and Evening Service
Dinner is a formal affair, often including multiple courses and wine pairings. Stews set the table with precision, while chefs prepare gourmet meals. Guests might enjoy a movie on the upper deck or cocktails under the stars.
23:00 – Lights Out (for some)
After guests retire, the crew continues with turndown service and final cleaning. Only when the yacht is secure and spotless can the team relax.
Life onboard is demanding but incredibly rewarding, especially for those with a passion for travel and hospitality. Our training at Prestige Yacht Academy ensures that students are prepared, polished, and professional from day one.
